Over 80 years ago, Gus Kneuer started welcoming patrons to his now historical, Franklin Park Tavern; Gus’s Franklin Park Restaurant, in Harrison, NY. Shortly after he took ownership of the tavern, Gus’s hospitality and friendliness were so well received, that it became known as Gus’s to all. Soon after, the establishment’s reputation grew and seafood was added to the menu along with traditional American fare and Gus’s signature German dishes. The Tavern’s warmth, good cheer along with the quality of the food quickly made it a landmark destination throughout Westchester County.
Thirty years ago, Gus passed the torch to his son and grandson, Ernie Kneuer, who is now General Manager of The Market at Gus’s. In 1995, they opened a small fish store next to Gus’s Franklin Park Tavern to offer quality seafood for their patrons to enjoy at home.
Over the years, The Market at Gus’s has grown to offer the best quality seafood, a renowned full-service Butcher Shoppe featuring beef from Master Purveyors in Hunts Point, Gus’s Kitchen catering, and all the ingredients needed to prepare a great Gus’s meal at home.

Peter’s early food experiences and restaurant work inspired him to attend The New England Culinary Institute (NECI) in Burlington, VT. After graduating with advanced placement, Peter went on to work alongside some of the greatest chefs of our time: Charlie Palmer, Jean-Georges, Neil Gallagher and Terrence Brennen. Allured by invitations to work as a private chef on celebrity yachts and vacations, Peter left the grind of New York kitchens to explore foodie adventures abroad — eventually returning to the New York restaurant scene holding management positions at such acclaimed restaurants as Bouley and The Oak Room.
